Fantasia on "Adeste Fideles" by Bruce Neswick. For organ. Christmas, hymn. Medium Difficult. Sheet music. Published by Paraclete Press (PL.9719). This work opens with a lyrical, jazz-like setting of the tune on a solo flute accompanied by quiet harmonies reminiscent of Leo Sowerby's style. The large middle section opens with a fugue that gradually becomes more active rhythmically and turns into a brilliant toccata with double pedal. The rapid motion tapers off using fragments of the toccata section and the piece returns to the lyrical mood of the opening. Throughout the work, Mr. Neswick gives much opportunity for colorful registration while giving the organist a virtuoso part for the pedals.

Hymnus Paschalis by Donald Hunt. For SATB choir with divisi, organ. Cathedral. Choral, General, advent. Difficult. Choral score. Published by Paraclete Press (PL.9921). This singular work was originally written for the Three Choirs Festival in Worcester in 1995. The version published here is for choir and organ, but was originally performed in a version for the choir and orchestra. The work was inspired by the discovery of a beautiful chant tune,"Ad Coenam Agni Providi". This tune pervades the entire work, as does "Victimae Paschali" and two hymn tunes: " Rockingham" and "Victory". The reviews of the premiere performance were unanimous in their praise: "This is most assuredly among the finest of contemporary choral compositions." (Musical Opinion) "Hymnus Paschalis"requires choral forces (dividing into three choirs at one point) of great accomplishment and skill as well as a virtuoso organist.

Richard Jones teaches compostion at Cardiff University in Wales. - Richard Konzen "AAM Journal" January 2005.

Triumphal March by Robert Lind. For Organ. Festival, Choral, Advent. Medium. Sheet music. Published by Paraclete Press (PL.0614). * excellent choice for weddings and processions, as well as for a prelude to a festival day or a postlude for any Sunday of the year * chordal introduction with dotted rhythm give a sense of fanfare to this exciting work * enharmonic shifts add interest, while the chord progressions continue to fall under the hands naturally * pedal part undergirds the manuals with foundational direction as well as some contrapuntal interest, remaining technically very manageable * some contrapuntal writing expands the melodic shaping and adds forward momentum, while the piece remains primarily homophonic * Lind's understanding of the organ reflected in a work of strength and clarity for all festive occasions and processions, as well as for concert useThis march was written for Dr. John Henderson upon completing the latest edition of A Directory of Composers for Organ. This work could make an effective voluntary or recital piece. Technically, it is of medium difficulty; there are some accidentals to pay attention to and some pedal scales. No registration is given, but there are helpful hints along the way as to when to add or subract stops in addition to following the dynamics. The main theme of the march makes a bold statement, covering two octaves within three measures. One can almost imagine conquering the Directory! Overall the march takes on a broad ABA form. - "The Journal of the Association of Anglican Musicians" March 2006.

Vignettes on "There is no Rose" by Leslie Betteridge. For organ. Advent, Choral, Easter. Medium Difficult/Difficult. Sheet music. Published by Paraclete Press (PL.8910). This piece is based on several themes from the composer's Christmas anthem There is no Rose.." . The harmonic language and musical style of this piece may remind one of Herbert Howell's compositions, especially his Psalm-Preludes. A range of emotions is expressed through the changing dynamics and sectional nature of this piece. This workwould be very effective if used in connection with the composer's anthem of the same title, as the association of words with certain musical themes would give those themes even more meaning. However, the work by itself would be a very strong addition to the Christmas service or a program of Christmas music." --The Diapason.
