Mamma by C.A. Bixio. Arranged by Donato Semeraro. Concert band. For solo tenor voice (or Trombone / Euphonium). An Italian traditional song. Italian Pop Music, Solo piece. Grade 3. Score and set of parts. Duration 3 minutes, 45 seconds. Published by Scomegna Edizioni Musical srl (S4.ESB1083). Cesare Andrea Bixio composed Mamma, one of the most well-known Italian classic songs, for lyrics by Bruno Cherubini. The song owes its fame in part to the typical Italian melody, but even more to the innumerable interpretations of the most renowned tenors, including Beniamino Gigli, Claudio Villa, and Luciano Pavarotti. This arrangement of the song allows for various performance choices: voice and wind band (tenor); solo instrument and wind band (trombone/euphonium), or wind band without soloist.

La Follia, Op 5, No 12 - Score and parts by Arcangelo Corelli (1653-1713). For Alto/Treble Recorder and Basso Continuo. Recorder with Keyboard or Continuo. 4 - Difficult. Score and Parts. Published by Schott Music (MM.OFB0121). La Follia, a dance melody similar in style to a saraband, has inspired numerous composers to write variations on it. Arcangelo Corelli (1653 - 1713) was an Italian violin player and Baroque music composer. His compositions for the instrument mark an epoch in the history of chamber music. Corelli s influence was not confined to his own country. Even Johann Sebastian Bach is said to have deferred to him, and he is considered one of Antonio Vivaldi s greatest influences. Musical society in Rome owed much to Corelli.

Two cantatas by Tomaso Giovanni Albinoni (1671-1751). Edited by Michael Talbot. For Alto and basso continuo. Full score and parts. 51 pages. Duration 15 minutes. Published by Edition HH Music Publishers (HH.HH107-FSP). ISBN 1-904229-65-4. Both cantatas are typical specimens of Albinoni's style. The little flourishes of conjunct demisemiquavers seen in bar 13 of the opening aria of Vorrei che lo sapessi and bar 14 of that of Senza il core del mio bene, are a 'trademark' feature. So, too, is the use of a Devise (a preliminary statement of the voice's opening theme) in the majority of the arias. The strongly independent rhythmic and melodic character of the continuo bass, with its intensive development of characteristic motives that sometimes amounts to ostinato treatment (as in the opening aria of Vorrei che lo sapessi), is quintessentially Albinonian. These cantatas are likely to date, at least in their original form, from before 1700.

Concerto in D by Tomaso Giovanni Albinoni (1671-1751). Arranged by Erik Schultz. For Trumpet & Organ. New York Festival List. Eighth Note Publications: Erik Schultz Trumpet and Organ. Baroque. Part(s). Duration 00:06:50. Published by Eighth Note Publications (AP.81-ESTO975). ISBN 9781554722266. Baroque. Found on Erik Schultz’s critically acclaimed Music for Trumpet and Organ Volume 2, this concerto by Tommaso Albinoni is a spectacular showpiece for the piccolo trumpet. A beautiful piece of music combined with Mr. Schultz’s flawless interpretation has made this piece a standard on the various international tours of Jan Overduin and Erik Schultz. The Allegro opening provides opportunities for Mr. Schultz and Mr. Overduin’s brilliant ornaments to augment Albinoni’s writing. The melancholy Adagio allows the soaring trumpet line to entwine with the various registrations of the organ. The final Allegro is truly the highlight of the piece and Mr. Schultz has extended the final section to allow for a breathtaking finale taking the soloist to the last figure which ends on a high D concert. All the soloist’s ornaments have been carefully notated as they appear on the CD.
