Ottorino Respighi (1879-1936) is one of the most significant 20th century Italian composers. In particular, his works Pini di Roma, Feste Romane and Fontane di Roma are very well known and his general virtuoso composing style appeals strongly to the imagination. In Metamorphoseon, the composer varies the same theme in 12 steps (modi). This is a magnificent work in a beautiful transcription by Matty Cilissen.
