XXVI Variazioni sulla Follia di Spagna by Antonio Salieri (1750-1825). Arranged by Gerhart Drijvers. For Concert Band. Grade 5. Full score and set of parts. Duration 22:30. Published by Baton Music (BF.BM107-SET).
The stunning XXVI Variazioni sulla Follia di Spagna was the last work by Antonio Salieri - a sort of brooding soliloquy but, at the same time, something of a massive study in timbre and instrumentation, much as Ravel's Bolero was to be in the 20th century. The theme had already been used by a great many composers (D'Anglebert, Corelli, Daquin, etc. ) and was later to arouse the interest of Liszt and Rachmaninov.
