Sing on Sight is a comprehensive sight-singing method by Audrey Snyder. Volume Two builds on the skills established in Volume One and moves step by step to full, choral sight-singing. The recorded accompaniments include a wide variety of styles, from classical to contemporary, and folk music to pop and jazz. Exercises are written so that two or more lines may be sung simultaneously, so students gain sight-singing independence and develop their part-singing skills. With just a few minutes a day Sing on Sight can help your choirs learn to read music and have fun in the process! Student and Teacher Editions available separately: both Unison/2-Part Treble and 2-Part/3-Part Mixed. Accompaniment CD (coincides with both voicings) also available. Classroom Kits include 25 Student Books, 1 Teacher Edition and 1 Accompaniment CD.

From the composer who brought you Tapestry of Light, The Rose of Calvary and The Lenten Sketches, comes a new work filled with the music of grace. The life of Christ is dramatically presented in this choral cantata that tells the gospel story using American folk songs and hymns. Filled with time-honored tunes and texts, this masterfully arranged work will connect with the congregation and choir alike. Divided into three sections - Ministry, Humility and Victory - this cantata can be done progressively throughout Lent, Holy Week and Eastertide, or it can be performed as one large celebration of the life of Christ. The miracle and blessing of Christ's earthly ministry, the humility of His passion and the victory of His resurrection fill this work with emotion and power. Thoughtful narration and spectacular orchestrations crown the cantata with variety and skill. Optional moments for congregational participation are included to incorporate your community of faith. A full line of support products is available.

East Coast Pictures was commissioned by the British Youth Wind Orchestra. These three short 'pictures' were inspired by several visits to a small part of the American East Coast, an area that provides great extremes in the geography and the people. Movement 1: Shelter Island is a small island situated near the end of Long Island, a few hours drive east of New York. In the summer it becomes a crowded tourist trap; but in the winter it is gloriously deserted and bravely faces the onslaught of the turbulent Atlantic, shrouded in sea mists and driving rain. This 'picture' is a fond memory of a winter weekend on Shelter Island. Movement 2: In upstate New York lie the Catskills Mountains---an extraordinary combination of tranquillity and power, peace and majesty. Once seen, they call you back again and again. Movement 3: New York - or to be more precise, Manhattan. For anyone who is familiar with this bizarre and wonderful city, here is a 'picture' that needs no explanation. For those not yet hooked this is a foretaste of things to come!

The term Danceries can be found in a copy of Playford's Dancing Master, an extensive collection of folk and popular tunes of the seventeenth century (and no doubt earlier). This publication was used by master fiddle players to teach the various dance steps of the day to a nobleman's house or a king's court. Whilst this present set of 'Danceries' cannot be said to be an aid to terpsichorean agility, it will at least set feet tapping! The melodies themselves are a mixture of new and old---well, nearly. Where the old occurs it has been adapted in mood and composition and is often interspersed with completely new material. The harmonies and rhythms bring a breath of the new into these themes and add to the drama of the set. Movement 1: Lull me beyond thee. Gentle and lilting, almost a barcarole, this movement is very much a reverie. The original tune had the name 'Poor Robin's Maggot' - a rather disconcerting title; maggot, however, in seventeenth-century parlance meant whim or fancy. This theme can also be found in The Beggar's Opera by John Gay (first performed in 1728) under the title 'Would you have a young lady' (Air 21). Movement 2: Catching of Quails. A colorful, buoyant scherzo on an original melody. The thematic material is shuttled around the band to contrast with full-bodied tuttis. The last few bars fade away to almost nothing before a final surprise! Movement 3: My Lady's Rest. A tender pavane, also on an original theme, with Moorish leanings. Solos for principal winds and brass contrast with warmer tutti passages. The movement culminates with a final presentation of the theme before evaporating in held flute and trumpet chords. Movement 4: Quodling's delight. The final movement to the set combining one of the melodies from Playford's Dancing Master ('Goddesses') with an original contrasting melody. A dramatic and exuberant ending to the set of 'Danceries'.

This monumental work, inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien's literary masterpiece, is a challenging and uniquely rewarding composition for the advanced concert band. The fifth movement expresses the carefree and optimistic character of the Hobbits in a happy folk dance; the hymn that follows emanates the determination and noblesse of the hobbit folk.

Commissioned by the Michigan State University Alumni Band, this three movement work by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Karel Husa was the winner of the first Louis Sudler International Wind Band Composition Competition in 1983. Previously available only in rental, we are proud to offer this important work for publication. A note from the composer: Divided into three movements, this work is a display of virtuoso passages given to solo instruments as well as to the groups of the ensemble. In the Fanfare of the first movement, the brass section concertizes in groups of four brass quintets (2 trumpets, horn, trombone and tuba or baritone), spread from left to right in back. The saxophones (S, A, T, B) are placed in front of the brass quintets, and the woodwinds occupy the front of the stage, with percussion on the left and right side. These groups, like the brass quintets, play in the concertante style, particularly in the first and last movements. At the same time, each movement contains individual solo passages (for example, timpani and flute in Movement I - Drum Ceremony and English horn and other low woodwinds in Movement II - Elegy). The composition of this piece was prompted by the excellence of wind and percussion players today, and by the incredible growth of wind ensembles, orchestras, and bands in the last 25 years. It is intended for their enjoyment.

Lush and luminescent, Cloudburst combines hand bells, thunder sheets and the audience (snapping their fingers), transforming the entire theater into a magnificent thunderstorm.
