Saxophone Choir/Ensemble - 12-15 part. Optional Soprillo, Sopranino, 2 Soprano, 3 Alto, 3 Tenor, 2 Baritone, Bass, optional Contrabass, optional Subcontrabass. A complete, unabridged arrangement of Dvorak's Serenade for Strings Op.22. In five movements, the first four are generally straightforward in form, exploring just one or two themes. The first is melodic and soaring, the second is an elegant waltz, the third is a blistering scherzo, while the fourth is a tranquil and wistful slow movement. The finale is more complex, starting out as a Bohemian peasant dance full off off-beat accents. Two other themes are developed in the course of the movement before a recap of the opening theme of the very first movement leads into a frenetic coda section. All parts take their share of the melodic interest right through this arrangement, which requires careful work to bring out the artistic shading in the work. A great addition to any concert situation.

This Collection of works for alto sax and piano represents a fine collection of elegant classical masterpieces by such renowned composers as Gluck, Rachmaninov, and Schubert, combined with compositions by their living counterparts Morgan, Raman and Taylor. A "musical marriage" has been created on this album, combining works by some of history's greatest musical masters with contemporary prolific composers writing for the saxophone. These timeless works highlight the tonal beauty, sonority, color, and expressive qualities inherent in the saxophone, which has the ability to sound at times like a mezzo-soprano, violinist, cellist, or flutist. Listen to and study the complete versions performed by Mr. Banaszak accompanied by virtuoso pianist Stuart Raleigh, then you take center stage and play the solo part with Mr. Raleigh! This album also includes complimentary downloads of the piano accompaniment score for your performance needs.

One of the most prolific and influential composers of the Baroque era, Vivaldi is especially noted for his compositions for violin, e.g., The Four Seasons. He was equally at home in composing for other instruments, however, including the flute, recorder, and bassoon. This volume comprises a selection of his finest compositions for wind instruments, including six concertos for flute and strings: Concerto No. 1 in F Major, "The Tempest" (RV 433); Concerto No. 2 in G Minor, "Night" (RV 439); Concerto No. 3 in D Major, "The Bullfinch" (RV 428); Concerto No. 4 in G Major (RV 435); Concerto No. 5 in F Major (RV 434); and Concerto No. 6 in G Major (RV 437). Also here are four "related" concertos: Concerto No. 1b, variant (RV 570) for Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, and Strings; Concerto No. 2c, variant (RV 501) for Bassoon and Strings; Concerto RV 422 for (Soprano) Recorder in F Minor; and Concerto RV 444 for Sopranino Recorder in C Major. Musicians and music lovers will appreciate this convenient compilation of rewarding works by the Italian master, edited and with an introduction by Italian Baroque music expert Eleanor Selfridge-Field Dover Original.

This is the piano reduction of an important and substantial work for clarinet and strings (which has also been published in a new, corrected edition - E643). It was written in 1895 when the composer was still a student at the Royal College of Music. His composition teacher, Charles Villiers Stanford, was so impressed by the piece that he took it with him on a visit to Berlin in 1897, where he arranged for the Joachim Quartet to play it.

A charming trio for two oboes and a bassoon by the composer better known for his famous Tambourin. In three movements, ending with a minuet and trio. All three parts share the melodic interest with some delightful interplay between them. The second movement is the longest at 99 bars, the others are somewhat shorter. The oboe parts never go higher than top D, but do both include low B flats; the bassoon part reaches top F.

Rhythmically complex and working through some extreme keys, these are a rewarding challenge for advanced players.

Double Reed Ensemble - 6 oboes, 2 Cor Anglais An arrangement of one of Gustav Holst's earlier works, originally for eight part women's voices. Lush harmonies and simple flowing lines build to create a beautifully elegant sound world. The statement and answer sections mean that this piece works well antiphonally with the two quartets separated, but is just as good as a large choir piece. The relatively straightforward lines and simpler instrumentation make this an ideal concert piece. Oboe 1 goes up to top D so maybe grade 3/4 standard. Other parts are lower.

Some of the most beautiful music from Mozart's operas is to be found in Così fan Tutte. Now flautists can extend their repertoire and explore these glorious moments. These duet arrangements from the late 18th and early 19th centuries of Mozart's operatic highlights have served as a basis for modern-day editors. Whilst retaining many aspects of the original flute arrangements, Mozart's own intentions with regard to the relevant orchestral settings have been considered and respected. Suitable for intermediate-level flautists, these duets may well introduce players to the music of Mozart. Flute Choir/Ensemble - 4 Flutes, alto flute, bass flute, optional contr'alto flute, contra-bass flute Three choruses from Handel's Messiah (Let us break their bonds asunder, For unto us a child is born and His yoke is easy) arranged for large flute choir. The contrapuntal nature of these pieces takes them out of the realm of a simple sightreading exercise and makes them really meaty pieces that need careful practice and rehearsal. All parts (even the lowest flutes) take part in the counterpoint, and flutes one and two need agile fingers and nimble tongues to negotiate the extended semiquaver passages. Something different for the Christmas concert!

Master flautist Amy Porter has reworked the famous etudes of Cyrille Rose for Flute, allowing students of the instrument to reap the rewards of pieces that have benefited clarinettists for generations. As these etudes were written for the range of the Clarinet and based on the range of Ferling's Oboe etudes, Porter has raised the octave placement in some exercises to make them more suited for all the octaves of the modern Flute. This edition also includes a data CD containing Piano accompaniments written and performed by John Walker in both MP3 and printable PDF format. In this form, the Rose etudes will become as essential to Flute students as they are to clarinettists, as both practice and recital pieces.
