Your Voices Tune (from Alexander's Feast) by George Frideric Handel (1685-1759). Edited by Don Malin. Choir Secular. SATB choir. Choral Octavo; Masterworks. Baroque; Masterwork. Choral Octavo. 16 pages. Published by Alfred Music Publishing (AP.OCT02408). This, the final chorus from Handel's concerto grosso Alexander's Feast, is a joyful ode to "music" from the baroque era. Alfred's definitive, authentic edition has been lowered a whole step from the original score and provides astute editorial additions in parenthesis. Appropriate for contest and festival choirs, four minutes in duration. The great success of the original work, featuring a libretto by Scottish playwright Newburgh Hamilton, encouraged Handel to make the transition from writing Italian operas to English choral works.

Your Voices Tune by George Frideric Handel (1685-1759). Arranged by Sherri Porterfield. For 3-part mixed choir (2-part). Octavo. Published by Heritage Music Press (LO.15-1308H). Handel composed this work for Alexander's Feast, written in celebration of the day honoring St. Cecilia, the patron saint of music. Following the choral introduction in 4/4, it moves to a lilting 6/8 to introduce the main melodic section. This arrangement was specifically designed for the developing choir, and it is an excellent tool for teaching phrasing and stylistic features of the Baroque era.

Wohl dem, der den Herren furchtet by Wilhelm Friedemann Bach (1710-1784). Edited by Peter Wollny. For Soli SA, SATB Choir, 2 Violins, Viola, Cello/Contrabass, Organ. This edition: Paperbound. Stuttgart Urtext editions. Score available separately - see item CA.3207600. Stuttgart Urtext editions. Vocal score. Language: German. Composed 1752. Fk 76. 24 pages. Duration 11 min. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.3207603). With Language: German. Stuttgart Urtext editions. The cantata is one of the few surviving vocal works which Wilhelm Friedemann Bach composed during the eighteen years which he spent as organist and director of music at the Marktkirche in Halle (1746-1764). This cantata, published here for the first time in more than 250 years, was written to introduce the autumn sermons in 1752. A musically and technically demanding composition, it consists of two substantial choral movements, partly concertante and partly polyphonic, based on two biblical utterances. They surround a sensitive, while at the same time strictly contrapuntal, duet for soprano and alto with basso continuo in which 'God's sweet teaching for the soul' is described as the true 'manna' of the faithful, forming a link with the sermons which are to follow. In the compactness of the musical construction and its intensity of expression W. F. Bach was clearly following in the footsteps of his father in this work.
