The latest work from the pen of Nigel Hess. New London Pictures represents elements of London in the 21st Century. The Millennium Bridge describes the pedestrian's journey across this wonderful new landmark bridge over the Thames, starting at the imposing Tate Modern, crossing the busy river, and onwards to St. Paul's Cathedral with its bells ringing out over the great city. London Eye is an incredibly large Ferris wheel situated on the South Bank of the River Thames. This movement depicts a "flight" on this riverside wheel, at the top of which the panoramic view of London is breathtaking and the expanse of the music is a suitable depiction of the view. As with all modern cities, London is overcrowded with motor vehicles. London is the first major city in Europe to adopt a Congestion Charge, and this piece (with its stop and go traffic lights) is both racy and comical. Here are Londoners attempting to go about their business in the face of overwhelming odds.....

The highlight of the work is the title song, which brings the cantata to a close in rousing, 6/8 fashion and is sure to have the congregation leaving with the refrain of "praise the risen Lord" on their lips. Sing Noel! is a complete service of music and readings, all in one volume. It contains a variety of carols from many traditions, all arranged in Hopson's accessible style, making this work useful for congregations large and small. The traditional scripture lessons have been replaced by exquisite poetry, chosen from masters of the idiom to texts from Christmas hymns. All this is woven together to create an exceptional service of worship. The work may be performed with organ alone, or with the optional instrumentation (strings, handbells, and percussion), offering additional variety and color to the entire experience.

Commissioned for the 2002 Indiana All-State Band, Cloudburst is an adaptation of Whitacre's acclaimed choral work of the same name. Lush and luminescent, Cloudburst combines hand bells, thunder sheets and the audience (snapping their fingers), transforming the entire theater into a magnificent thunderstorm. A profoundly moving work for musicians and audience.
