13 Tango Passions for Mandolin and Guitar by Ely Karasik. Arranged by Ronald Grosswiler. For Mandolin. Duets. Dance. Intermediate. Book. 104 pages. Published by Mel Bay Publications, Inc (MB.99379). ISBN 9780786638123. Dance. 11.75x8.75 inches. The thirteen compositions contained in this collection were originally self-published by composer/mandolin virtuoso Ely Karasik in three separate volumes: Tango Passions, Tango Moods, and Tango Memories. They were composed specifically to provide repertoire for the guitar/mandolin duo in which the guitar serves as an equal partner and not just accompaniment. Each of these original tangos has a Spanish title suggesting a particular feeling. This publication includes separate parts for the mandolin and guitar as well as a combined score. All of the parts are written in notation only.

Amsco Publications #AM989109. Published by Amsco Publications (HL.14032656). ISBN 1846099013. Dance. 9.25x12 inches. In the past two decades tango has experienced a popular resurgence worldwide. Almost universally familiar as a dance form, tango is also a distinctive genre of song or canción that was born in the impoverished outskirts of late 19th-century Buenos Aires. Whether sung in Spanish, or as would happen later, in Italian or Russian. 26 songs illustrate the growth and diversity of tango from its Argentine roots to its dissemination throughout Europe and into the Middle East and beyond. These songs are represented both in print – with melody lines, chord boxes and lyrics in their original language and in English – and through classic recordings by the original artists on the accompanying CD.
