Not Mine by Helen O'Connell. Arranged by Marion Evans, Myles Collins. For big band with female vocal. Swing. Medium. Full score and set of parts. Published by Lush Life (JL.LL-2227). This is the original Helen O'Connell version of Not Mine, from her 1957 album "Green Eyes", as recorded with the Marion Evans Orchestra. The arrangement was originally scored for 5 woodwind (1,2,3 on Flute/Clarinet, 4,5 on Bass Clarinet), no brass, full string section and 4 rhythm, and this is what is included in the arrangement pack. Also included is a full set of 8 brass parts which should only be used if you have no string section. The reed 4 (1st Bass Clarinet) can be played by Tenor sax and an alternate reed 5 part has been included, scored for Baritone sax. However, reeds 1,2 & 3 remain as Flute doubling Clarinet, as the tonal color is vital to the integrity of the arrangement. The vocal key is G throughout.

Blueport (Score) edited by Ted Hogarth, Rob DuBoff, and Jeffrey Sultanof. Arranged by Al Cohn. For big band. Recorded by the Gerry Mulligan Concert Jazz Band. Swing. Medium. Score. Published by Jazz Lines Publications (JL.JLP-8167S). Here is Al Cohn's arrangement of Art Farmer's tune Blueport, written for the Gerry Mulligan Concert Jazz Band. This arrangement was performed live a few times in 1960, including at the Newport Jazz Festival. The arrangement features some interesting counterpoint as well as great backgrounds during the solo sections. This is a perfect tune for festivals as it allows the band to showcase individual members throughout the course of the arrangement. This has been edited and engraved directly from the original parts. However, some of the arrangement was added by Mulligan. And, those parts have been transcribed from the recordings. Ranges: Trumpet 1: to F6; Trombone 1: to Bb4.

Chicago (Score) edited by Rob DuBoff and Jeffrey Sultanof. Arranged by Fletcher Henderson. For big band. Recorded by Benny Goodman. Swing. Difficult. Score. Published by Jazz Lines Publications (JL.JLP-8338S). This Fletcher Henderson arrangement of the Fred Fisher standard Chicago, was performed live by Benny Goodman in 1935. This is a great arrangement by Henderson that features clarinet, as well as solo spots for tenor saxophone and trumpet. Since there was no baritone saxophone part for this arrangement we have decided to put the solo clarinet part on reed 5. All reeds double on clarinet during a 'choir' soli section. Ranges: Trumpet 1: to D6; Trombone 1: Bb4.

Bernie's Tune (Score) edited by Ted Hogarth, Rob DuBoff and Jeffrey Sultanof. Arranged by Bill Holman. For big band. Written for the Gerry Mulligan Concert Jazz Band. Swing. Medium Difficult. Score. Published by Jazz Lines Publications (JL.JLP-8891S). In 1960, Bill Holman was flown to New York from California to help build up the book for Gerry Mulligan's Concert Jazz Band. Bernie's Tune was probably written during this period. From all accounts, this arrangement was rarely if ever played. Mulligan's concept of the Concert Jazz Band was a 'large' small group. He wanted the enlarged sound of several musicians with the looseness of the rhythm section found in small groups, particularly his own quartet and sextet. Bernie's Tune in particular is an opportunity for improvisation for baritone sax (Mulligan), tenor sax (perhaps Zoot Sims), trumpet (Conte Candoli?) and trombone (Bob Brookmeyer). This is a straightforward version of the well-known tune, with classic Holman counterpoint. There is a gag at the end when the band launches into an old-timey version of Julius Fucik's Entry of the Gladiators. Ranges: Trumpet 1: to C6; Trombone 1: to Ab4; Trombone 2: to A4.

Come Rain Or Come Shine (Score) edited by Rob DuBoff and Jeffrey Sultanof. Arranged by Frank DeVol. For jazz studio orchestra with vocal. Recorded by Peggy Lee. Swing. Medium. Score. Published by Jazz Lines Publications (JL.JLP-9099S). This Frank DeVol arrangement was written for Peggy Lee's 1946 Capitol recording session in Hollywood, CA. Featured along with the vocal is alto saxophone. What sounds like the alto saxophonist (Skeets Herfert) soloing was actually entirely written out by DeVol. We have included the chord changes in the event that your alto player would like to improvise instead. Originally, this arrangement was written for 2 trombones. Sometime later on, DeVol revised the arrangement for a performance by Helen O'Connell (whom he was married to) and added a 3rd trombone part. We have retained this modification of the arrangement. Trumpets and trombones need plunger mutes. This arrangement is based on the original score and parts. Ranges: Trumpet 1: to C#6; Trombone 1 & 2: to A4; Vocal Key: B flat.

Score. Published by Jazz Lines Publications (JL.JLP-9197S). In 1960 Dean Martin recorded the album 'This Time I'm Swingin' with studio orchestra arrangements supplied by Nelson Riddle. Here is the arrangement of Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone as recorded by Dean on that album. This has been published directly from the original score and parts. This arrangement features a full big band with a string section. We have included an optional synth part so that it may be played without the strings. Ranges: Trumpet 1: to Db6; Trombone 1: Cb5.
