This Ain't No Show Tune by Ben Pritchard. For Jazz Ensemble. Jazz, Rock. Advanced. Set of Parts, Score. Published by Ben Pritchard (S0.4725). This is a fun, funky chart. It has a relentless, infectious groove and bass line. This will be a crowd favorite! It can be played without solos if necessary. “This Ain’t No Show Tune” is an original composition inspired by an experience as a studio musician rehearsing and recording a bad musical. The keyboard/bass line came to my head as I was driving home after the last studio day. It is a fun, quirky piece with funk and rock feels. There is an open drum solo and an optional “one chord” solo section for the rest of the band. The clavichord part can be played on piano (or both). Measure 53 features a short section without the rhythm section, which leads into the “hard rock” section at measure 61. There is an open drum solo at measure 71, followed by a funky new groove with a lot of dissonance and “snarl.” Here you will find a bit of changing meter and a few difficult sixteenth note licks. The original groove comes back at measure 105, which can also be used as an optional “one chord” solo section. There are a few short guitar solo fills as the piece comes to an end. The recording is currently midi but a live recording is on the way! About Digital Print Sheet Music Digital Print is printable sheet music available anytime, anywhere. Just purchase, print and play! Island Jam #8 by Patrick Glenn Harper. For Percussion Ensemble. Instructional, Pop, Rock, 20th Century, World. Early Intermediate. Set of Parts, Score. Published by Patrick Glenn Harper (S0.4206). This simple percussion ensemble piece can be prepared for performance in just a few rehearsals. There are several easier parts written for auxiliary percussion instruments that will allow students who are new to percussion to participate in the ensemble as well. (The piece also sounds fine without them, so use as needed.) This piece has multiple instances of melodic parts entering on the second half of the 4th beat, and would be an excellent piece to use in working on basic syncopation. (I included a marimba 2 part in bass clef for those who prefer it.) Please listen to the MP3 file I have included to get a better idea of what the piece sounds like. I'd Rather Be Eating Ice Cream by Bill 'Orange' Lyons. For jazz choir (SATB choir, a cappella). Rock. Level 3. Set of 16 octavos. Published by UNC Jazz Press (NC.VJ738). (Level III) The humorous treatment of this up-tempo, rock, a cappella original will be a delight not only for its listeners but for the performers as well. In the style of the Bobs, there is space for a screaming air guitar solo followed by a lyrically non-sensical, repeating interlude to talk about anything instead of love. The top three voices provide the melody and upper structures, while the bottom voices define the tonality and keep the beat mostly in open fifths. If you can't have fun with this one, you should consult a physician! SATB.
