This hot Latin chart starts with a rhythm section and four-part chorus intro and even gives the drummer a solo fill. Unison and four-part harmony are interwoven throughout this arrangement and there is an eight-bar written scat soli section followed by an improvised eight-bar solo section. The second time through the bridge gives the sopranos and altos a unison melody with the tenors and basses supplying the harmony. It plays down easily and includes solos for trombone (or trumpet), tenor sax, drums, and optional Latin percussion. Easy, galloping, songo feel will have people dancing in the aisles if it's in their blood. Excellent opportunity for percussionists to stretch out on timbales or congas, but also works well with drumset only.

(Level IV) This chart is a winner. Starting with marimbas playing a mournful rubato introduction, the tenor saxophone cadenza is introduced over the continuing marimba background. A mesmerizing Latin beat is launched and the tenor sax begins soloing on simple changes. After a brief brass chorale, the tune takes off at quarter note = 120 samba and never lets up. The flute doubles are technically demanding and the trumpet parts are high (though most always in octaves). 10 Brass.
