Christmas Medley arranged by Howard Shear. For jazz choir and big band (SATB choir). This edition: Trumpet range to F6. Jazz, Christmas. Level 5. Set of 16 octavos. Published by UNC Jazz Press (NC.1851). (8 Brass/SATB) This arrangement is a compilation of many different Christmas songs, from God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen to Santa Claus is Coming to Town. This is a challenging arrangement to perform the way it was intended especially with the interweaving of the voices and brass, the rubato sections and those in tempo. There are many subtleties. This chart features a cappella vocals, screaming as well as delicate brass playing and many tempo changes. This arrangement takes a great deal of versatility by the voices and the brass. This chart has a little bit of everything!

Score and set of parts. Published by UNC Jazz Press (NC.1856). (7 Brass) Being a good entertainer is the key for this arrangement of a medium-swing jazz standard scored for vocal jazz quartet (SATB) and big band (5-7). Starting with a solo tenor singer accompanied by drums with brushes, a whole band has more role than just playing the right notes - shouting a couple of words! Blues on Down by Benny Golson. Arranged by Chuck Owen. For jazz ensemble (trumpet and tenor saxophone solos). This edition: Trumpet range to Eb6. Blues, Swing, Slow, Jazz. Chuck Owen Series. Level 3. Score and set of parts. Published by UNC Jazz Press (NC.1899). (Level III) This great Benny Golson blues is placed in a classic, buoyant, Basie/Quincy setting. Recorded by Chuck Owen and the Jazz Surge, there are solos for trumpet and tenor (originally Benny and the late Nat Adderley) before the piece gives way to the infectious jazz march groove Benny is noted for (initially provided by an a cappella sax section). A good 'ol swingin' shout takes us back to the understated head. The chart includes a bass solo and flute lead (written in the Tenor 1 part) but remains one of Chuck's most accessible charts for school bands. 8 Brass.

Not A Whisper!!! by David Cutler. For jazz ensemble (woodwind doubles). This edition: Trumpet range to F6. Swing, Jazz. Level 4. Score and set of parts. Published by UNC Jazz Press (NC.1919). (8 Brass) Actually a re-composition of Benny Golson's standard Whisper Not. Although the melody of this great composition is never literally stated from beginning to end, every musical idea in the chart is based directly on some element of the tune. The arrangement often deals with conversation between instruments, sometimes several at once. It also begins with a whisper and the last chord is definitely a "NOT"!!! Alto 2 doubles flute and tenor 1 doubles clarinet.
