Quartet in D Major by Franz Krommer (1759-1831). Edited by Graf. For Flute, Violin, Viola, Cello. Sheet Music. Published by Zimmermann (PE.ZM32690). Krommer left behind 18 flute quartets in all, which for the biggest part were printed by Andre in Offenbach. The new edition presented here is based on a first edition of this publishing company. Reference is given whenever modifications and additions have been made, but basically the score corresponds to the original text. The fact that Franz Krommer's works have fallen into oblivion for such a long time is probably because music historiography has taken the genius cult of the 19th century as a model. The rediscovery of his works gives us compositions combining classical forms with catchy folkloric expression; with their wit, colour and peculiar harmonies they feature a unique kind of personality. (from the editor's preface).

Sonata for Flute and Viola by Joseph Martin Kraus (1756-1792). Edited by H. -J. Kraus. For Flute, Viola. Sheet Music. Published by Zimmermann (PE.ZM23260). ISBN M-010-23260-7. Joseph Martin Kraus was born in Mittenberg am Main, Germany, on June 20, 1756. He moved to Stockholm in 1778, and spent the rest of his life in Sweden (he died on December 15, 1792, in Stockholm). Kraus is sometimes referred to as 'The Swedish Mozart'; interestingly enough, Mozart was born on January 27, 1756, and died on December 5, 1791 (there is no evidence the two ever met, although while on his Grand Tour of Europe from 1782 to 1787, Kraus was a member of the same Masonic Lodge as Mozart).
