The musical 'Evita' dates from 1976 and was the third whom composer Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote in collaboration with lyricist Tim Rice. It ran for eight consecutive years in the London West-End and was already acclaimed on Broadway in 1979. Evita' tells the lifestory of the passionate second wife of the Argentinian dictator Juan Peron. Eva Duarte was born in Los Todos in 1919. Her life was similar to that of Cinderella. Though from modest origins, she became the most powerful woman in her country as spouse of Juan Domingo Peron who was president of Argentina from 1946 to 1955. She died of cancer on 26 July 1952, only aged thirty-three and was buried as a national heroine. Even after her death, she was the object of a lay cult with the poorer Argentinian population. Only the army and the aristocracy had always opposed her position next to the president. The story is told by a cynical young man called 'Che'. He envies Evita's success while he cannot sell his invention, a new kind of insecticide. The splendid selection was made and arranged by Marcel Peeters. You hear succesively: 'Overture', 'On this Night of a Thousand Stars', 'Eva beware of the City', 'Buenos-Aires', 'Goodnight and thank You', 'I'd be surprisingly Good for You', 'Another Suitcase in another Hall', 'Waltz for Eva and Che', and the evergreen 'Don't cry for me Argentina'.

He already expressed his great love for the Eiffel Tower City by composing 'Listening to Paris'. With 'Paris Chansons' (Paris Songs) he wrote a splendid medley with fine arrangements of famous French songs that glorified the French capital and spread its reputation all over the world. This nice anthology of immortal French songs contains the following songs: 'Sous les Ponts de Paris', 'Sous les Toits de Paris', 'La Seine', 'Sur les Quais du Vieux Paris', 'Mademoiselle de Paris', 'Pigalle', 'Moulin Rouge', 'Paris', 'La Romance de Paris', 'Paris je t'aime d'Amour' and 'Paris Reine du Monde'. This composition will bring some Parisian atmosphere in the concert hall.

The legendary comedian Charles Spencer Chaplin is the author of a series of immortal films in which music plays a rather important role. Chaplin, who played the violin and the cello, wrote various musical themes himself, but was also assisted by several orchestrators, among others Alfred Newman, David Raskin and Arthur Johnson. Undoubtedly, Charlie had some original musical ideas, but above all he remained a creator of melodies with simple but fascinating themes. Marcel Peeters brilliantly arranged a number of those tunes for symphonic band. You can hear successively: Limelight Theme n Morning Promenade - This is my Song - Titina - Mandolin Serenade - Green Lantern Rag - Falling Star - Napoli March - Ze Boulevardier. The Greek composer Yannis Markopoulos became famous as the author of the music for the BBC serial Who pays the Ferryman. He combines typical Greek folk music (including bouzouki) with strong rhythms, giving an important role to the percussion. For this expertly orchestrated medley for wind band Marcel Peeters chose "Perido Sousta," "Who pays the ferryman" and the dance music from the film "Operation Apollo." This rhythmical medley of pure, though not traditional, Greek folk music will make you dream and will take you in a trice to the sunny Greek isles. Markopoulos writes easy listening music that may remind you of some fine holidays.
