This tender arrangement of the well-loved Irish folk melody Londonderry Air sets an uplifting poem by Howard Walter: a stirring combination of music and text that was also used at the funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales in 1997. Opening with the melody sung by tutti sopranos, the texture gradually builds to a climatic double choir section as the text celebrates the journey to God's heavenly kingdom. I would be true has been recorded by the Cambridge Singers on the CD This is the Day.

The Magnificat features rippling organ syncopations, contrasting textures, and an emphatic Gloria. The Nunc dimittis is tender yet uplifting, beginning with a reflective, lyrical section for tenors and basses or a solo voice. This beautifully written setting is a welcome addition to the Evensong repertoire.

This little tribute to William Ferris and the William Ferris Chorale consists of two sections, the first slow and the second quick. The text is simply the two words of the title, the Amen being the first section and (with minimal overlap) the Alleluia the second. In each part, the relevant word is gradually built up from its component syllables or sounds, and the second section is a gradual progress from a quiet, light texture to a blazing final cadence. Commissioned by the William Ferris Chorale for their 20th Anniversary Season and first performed by them on 27 March 1992 at Mount Carmel Church, Chicago, Illinois, conducted by William Ferris.

Kodály's Missa Brevis was first performed in 1945, just after the end of the Second World War. It is a hymn to hope in the divinity that provides comfort and strength in the most difficult of circumstances. Divided into deliberate sections, "Gloria" opens with a plainchant followed by a chorus fanfare, to a solo section at a much slower tempo, and ends in a joyful character to the final Amen. Duration: ca. 4:00.

Pilgrim Song is a powerful and heartfelt arrangement of a traditional American tune and lyrics. The text speaks of the glory of heaven and the risen life, and welcomes the day of judgement; these words are set strophically to a simple, broadly lilting melody, before the voices open into a grander choral texture with imitative motifs and a dramatic modulation. The piano part (also included in the orchestral version) adds further colour and texture with continuously flowing passages, syncopated countermelodies, and the use of different registers. An accompaniment for orchestra is available on hire/rental.
