Woefully obscure and unlauded today, Johnny Smith's early '50s recordings make him as important to the development of jazz guitar as his contemporaries Stan Getz and Al Haig are to the history of the tenor saxophone and the piano. This is the Quincy Jones and Count Basie version from the album This Time By Basie. Great section writing, plus written out tenor and piano solos. A superb swing number in C minor.

Moon River is a song composed by Johnny Mercer and Henry Mancini in 1961. It was sung in the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's by Audrey Hepburn, the movie's star, while the song itself won that year's Academy Award for Best Song for Mercer and Mancini. The success of the song was responsible for re-launching Mercer's career as a songwriter, which had stalled in the mid-1950s as rock and roll replaced jazz standards as the popular music of the time. This is a laid back swing arrangement based on the Quincy Jones version on the album This Time by Basie. Mainly featuring the Saxophone section but including muted Trumpet and Piano solos.
