5 Fantasias From Canzoni Alla Francese - Score by Adriano Banchieri (1568-1634). For SATB recorders. Recorder Quartets. 3 - Moderate. Score. Published by Moeck Verlag (MM.MK00294). Adriano Banchieri (1568 - 1634) was an Italian composer, music theorist, organist and poet of the late Renaissance and early Baroque eras. He founded the Accademia dei Floridi in Bologna. He was born and died in Bologna. Like Orazio Vecchi he was interested in converting the madrigal to dramatic purposes. Specifically, he was one of the developers of a form called "madrigal comedy" - unstaged but dramatic collections of madrigals which, when sung consecutively, told a story.

2 Fugues - Score by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750). For SATB recorders or String Quartet (2 Violins, Viola, and Cello). Recorder Quartets, String Quartets, Quintets etc. 3 - Moderate. Score. Published by Moeck Verlag (MM.MK00160). Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 - 1750) was a prolific German composer and organist whose sacred and secular works for choir, orchestra and solo instruments drew together almost all of the strands of the baroque style and brought it to its ultimate maturity. His forceful suavity and vast output have earned him wide acknowledgment as one of the greatest composers in the Western tonal tradition. For music lovers who have no keyboard instrument there are few opportunities of playing Bach fugues. It is hoped that the present edition will open up the way to Bachs polyphonic art for players of stringed instruments and recorders. From amidst the wealth of Bachs fugues we have selected two easy fugues from the "Eight Small Preludes and Fugues" for organ, compositions whose musical structure is relatively simple and which impose no special technical demands on the performer.

Four Part Chorales - Score by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750). For SATB/STTB recorders. Recorder Quartets. 3 - Moderate. Score. Published by Moeck Verlag (MM.MK00014). These chorales by J.S. Bach are taken from his cantatas and passions. Though origionally written for choir, (vocal text printed below music,) when played instrumentally, especially recorder quartet, they radiate a great intensity. Playing Bach chorales by a recorder quartet is a most fruitful way of aquiring technical skill.

Italian Instrumental Music of the Renaissance. Score. Published by London Pro Musica (MM.LPMIM11). He was a key figure in the development of the instrumental ensemble at St. Mark's basilica, and left a detailed book on instrumental ornamentation, which is a rich resource for research in contemporary performance practice. It is not known if he was related to Anthony Bassano a member of a well-known Venetian family of musicians. 6 Sonatas, Op 2, Volume 1, No.1-2 - Score by Georg Philipp Telemann (1681-1767). For AA Recorders. Recorder Duets. 4 - Difficult. Score. Published by Schott Music (MM.OFB0142). Georg Philipp Telemann (March 14, 1681 - June 25, 1767) was a German Baroque music composer, born in Magdeburg. Self-taught in music, he studied languages and science at the University of Leipzig. He was a contemporary of Johann Sebastian Bach, and friend of George Frideric Handel. While in the present day Bach is generally thought of as the greater composer, Telemann was widely renowned for his musical abilities during his lifetime. The Guinness Book of World Records lists Telemann as the most prolific composer of all time with more than 800 credited works. More recent study, for example the thematic catalogues of his works published in the 1980s and 1990s, has shown that Telemann actually composed over 3,000 compositions, many of which are now lost. Many of the manuscripts were destroyed during World War II.

The Berlin Duos (25 pg w/ commentary) - Score by Georg Philipp Telemann (1681-1767). For AA Recorders. Recorder Duets. Score. 25 pages. Published by Dolce (MM.DOL0705). This third set of duos by Telemann for two flutes (excluding the canonic duets) has come down only in single manuscript source, in the Staatsbliothek in Berlin (Preussischer Kulturbesitz, MS mus. 21787). The manuscript is, rather unhelpfully, entitled "Set duetti per due Flauti". The remarkable pieces differ from the other duos in having four rather than three movements. From the style of the music one might suppose that they come from late in Telemann s life, at least as late as the 1752 duos already published in this series (DOL 701). They may indeed be the pieces that Quantz praises so highly in his book of duos of 1759 (available in DOL 702).

Six Sonatas, Op 1, Volume 2, Nos.4-6 (g, C and e) - Score by Paisible. For AA Recorders. Recorder Duets. 3 - Moderate. Score. Published by Schott Music (MM.OFB0069). Jacques Paisible (c.1656-1721), also known as James Peasable was a French baroque composer and recorder virtuoso who worked in London. He is one of those shadowy figures of the recorder netherworld, a composer known to the present day only by his music for that instrument. A great and slothful Frenchman who arrived in London in the 1670s, he married a former mistress of Charles II in 1686, and had a successful career playing the bass violin, composing incidental music for the theater, and making a name for himself as a first-class recorderist. Most of his surviving music includes the recorder.

Six Fantasies: Nos 1, 3, 7, 8, 10 And 11 (12 Fantasies) by Georg Philipp Telemann (1681-1767). For Alto/Treble Recorder. Recorder Solos. 3 - Moderate. Published by Schott Music (MM.OFB0101). Nos. 1, 3, 7, 8, 10 and 11 of Telemanns "Twelve Fantasias" for unaccompanied transverse flute have been arranged here for the recorder, which necessitated their transposition up a minor third. Such arrangement of flute music for the recorder used to be a common practice referred to by Telemann, Hotteterre Ie Remain and other i8th century composers. The particular attraction of these masterful pieces lies in the alternation of rhythmically and melodically free forms with definite dance movements. Recorder players will be familiar with Telemanns liberal use of broken chords, wide leaps and other techniques which some might consider more in keeping with transverse flute writing, even when he is writing for the recorder. Only subtle and careful articulation will do justice to the musical riches of these by no means simple Fantasias. CONTENTS: Fantasies in C Major, D Minor, F Major, G Minor, A Minor B Flat Major.
